Age Limits –
For IMA | Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 2001 and not later than 1st January, 2006 only are eligible. |
For Indian Naval Academy | Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 2001 and not later than 1st January, 2006 only are eligible. |
For Air Force Academy | 20 to 24 years as on 1st January, 2025 i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January, 2001 and not later than 1st January, 2005 |
For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for men) | Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 2000 and not later than 1st January, 2006 only are eligible. |
For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course) | Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 2000 and not later than 1st January, 2006. |
Important Point: Candidates below the age 25 years should not be married. During the training period marriage is prohibited. 25 years above married candidates are eligible to apply this vacancy but they can not live with their family, it is prohibited by the commission. |

UPSC CDS Selection Process
The UPSC CDS exam is divided into 3 stages.
The details of the 3 stages are as follows:
1. Written –
This is an OMR based exam where you have to mark right answer in the OMR sheet. In this exam, you have to carry black ball pen for answering the questions and no other pen and pencil will allowed for the exam.
The written exam is conduct separately for students who willing to opt Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy and for students who willing to opt Officers’ Training Academy.
In part A, there are 3 section each section contains 100 marks of questions and each section are divided into 2 hours of time duration. In part B written examination, there are 2 section each has 2 hours for answering the questions and 100 marks for each section. Candidates should note that any omission/mistake/discrepancy in encoding/filling of details in the OMR answer sheet especially with regard to Roll Number and Test Booklet Series Code will render the answer sheet liable for rejection. This test will conduct in both Hindi and English languages. In this test you will not be able to use calculator aur any device for solving the questions. There will be negative marking (0.33 marks) for wrong answer marked by candidates.
2. Interview –
The maximum marks allotted to the written examination and to the interviews will be equal for each course i.e. the maximum marks allotted to the written examination and to the interviews will be 300, 300, 300 and 200 each for admission to the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers’ Training Academy respectively.
3. Medical Test –
Medical Services are responsible for ensuring selection of ‘Medically Fit’ individuals into the Armed Forces. To be deemed ‘Medically fit’, a candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/syndrome/disability likely to interfere 27 with the efficient performance of military duties in any terrain, climate, season incl. sea and air, in remote areas, in austere conditions with no medical aid. Candidate also should be free of medical conditions which require frequent visit to medical facilities and use of any aid / drugs. This test is included with different types of test according to posts. After clear all the process of examination candidates are able to got their job as per the order of the commission.
