SSC CGL Selection Process
The CGL exam is divided into 3 stages.
The Details of the 2 stages are as follows:
1. Computer Based Test (Tier 1) –
This is the first stage of the exam. It consists of a test of 200 marks, which has 4 sections and each section has 25 questions, each question carries 2 marks and if the question is answered wrong, 0.50 marks will be deducted. The questions will be set in both English & Hindi language.
2. Computer Based Test (Tier 2) –
After qualifying for Tier 1, candidates appear in Tier 2. In this, an exam is taken which has a total of 3 sections, it is called Paper 1. Paper-I is mandatory for all the posts. Paper I will be conducted in two sessions – Session –I & Session II, on the same day.
The first section consists of 60 questions and each question carries 3 marks, the time given for this is 1 hour.
The second section consists of 70 questions and that too with 3 marks and 1 hour time is given for this also. After this, there is a computer exam, there are a total of 20 questions and these are also for 3 marks, 15 minutes is given for this.
At the end, a typing test is taken on the computer which has to be completed in 15 minutes. And this is an important test, failing in it will not make you eligible for this job.
Paper-II will be for only those candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and Statistical Investigator Grade-II in the office of Registrar General of India (M/o Home Affairs) and who are shortlisted in Tier-I for these Posts. Paper 2 consists of 100 questions and each question carries 2 marks. You get a total time of 2 hours for this paper.
Paper-III will be for only those candidates who are shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-III i.e. for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer. Paper 3 also follows the pattern of Paper 2.
Successful candidates then become eligible to get the post of their choice.
