SSC GD Selection Process

The GD exam is divided into 3 stages.

1. Computer-based test
2. Physical Efficiency Test/Physical Standard Test
3. Medical test

The details of the 3 stages are as follows:

1. Computer Based Test – 

In this, a test of 160 marks is taken on the computer, which is divided into 4 sections. Each section contains 20 questions and each question carries 2 marks. If the answer to the question is given wrong, 0.50 marks will be deducted.

2. Physical Standard Test/Physical Efficiency Test – 

This is compulsory for both male and female candidates who have cleared CBT. This is done to test the body strength and stamina of the candidate. The Physical Standard Test is taken first and after passing it, one is sent for the Physical Efficiency Test. In this test, height and weight of male and female candidates are measured. After passing this, the candidates are eligible for further test or if they fail, they cannot give the physical efficiency test.

Height for male qualify in (PST) – 170 cmsHeight for female qualify in (PST) – 157 cms
Chest for male qualify in (PST) – Unexpanded 80 cms and have a minimum expansion of 5 cms to qualify the test.Note : This process is only for male candidates
Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.

Physical Efficiency Test –

Candidates are eligible for this test after passing the Physical Standard Test. Running test is taken to test the candidates whether they are eligible for the post or not.

Physical efficiency test for male: Complete 5 KM Running in 24 minutes (for normal candidates), 1.6 KM Running in 7 minutes (for candidates who belongs to Ladakh)

Physical efficiency test for female: Complete 1.6 KM Running in 8 ½ minutes (for normal candidates), 800 metres in 5 minutes (for candidates who belongs to Ladakh)  

3. Medical Test –

After clearing the previous 2 stages, candidates reach this last stage. In this, full body checkup of the candidates is done. If the candidate fails then he/she is declared disqualified.

Job Profile and Salary –

Its posting is done all over India. In this job you have to work in headquarters, airports, border areas and the northern States. It will be your job to protect the places where you are posted. This is a field job providing security to Indian citizens.

SSC GD Constable’s basic salary started from ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 and the salary of a newly joined constable is ₹23,527 (approx) after adding DA (434 Rs), HRA (2,358 Rs), TA (1,224 Rs). Salary also depends on the state and region and their posts. In this job, you will get one month extra salary for your security and no other jobs will provide you with this.
